
Troffers have to deliver an even, low-glare surface and drop into a recessed frame without trouble. Extruded covers do both more economically than moulded panels.
Why extrusion suits troffers
Injection moulding a large panel needs a large tool. Extruding the same cover keeps tooling cost low and makes wide and long sizes practical, with the length cut to the luminaire.
Flat, embossed or prismatic
Flat covers are the simplest and cheapest. Embossed covers hide the LED pitch. Prismatic covers control glare and shape the distribution, which matters in offices where glare limits and energy targets both apply.
Edge details
Lay-in and snap-in edges are produced to suit the frame, and the edge detail is part of the die — so it is settled before tooling.
Material
PMMA is common for clarity and UV stability; polycarbonate is used where impact resistance is required, for example in public areas.
