A good RFQ package gets an accurate quotation on the first pass. This is what to send.
Files and formats
PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP and IGES are all workable. A 2D cross-section with dimensions is the single most useful document; a 3D file helps when the profile changes along its length. If you have no drawing, a dimensioned sketch or a photo of a sample is enough to start.
Dimensions to include
Overall width and height, wall thickness in each region, the fixing detail, the length and the tolerance that matters. Note which dimensions are critical — over-tolerancing a whole drawing raises cost without improving the part.
Material and optics
State the material preference, and the optical target: transmission, diffusion level or, for lenses, the beam angle. If the target is a photometric distribution, send the file.
Quantity and schedule
Expected annual volume and the first-order quantity. Tooling and the first production run are quoted together, and the volume drives the tooling approach.
Application and environment
Tell us where the fixture is installed. Indoor, outdoor, high-temperature, food-safe or public-area applications change the material and the grade.
