Baoming Optical was established in 2008 in Yuhang, on the northern edge of Hangzhou, and ran its extrusion lines out of that factory for more than a decade. Profiles from those lines are still in the field today, in troffers, linear runs and signage installed across commercial interiors in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. What the old site could not do was grow.
In December 2018, ten years after the company was founded, it broke ground on a new plant in Xin’an, a town in Deqing County under Huzhou’s administration, about 8 km north of Linping and 3 km from the Lihang Expressway. The move was completed by the end of 2020, and everything arrived at one address: extrusion, two-colour co-extrusion, the tooling centre, cutting and inspection.
What the new site actually changed
The process did not change. The room around it did. More than twenty PC and PMMA extrusion lines now run under one roof, with die design and die manufacturing in-house next to them. Optical design, extrusion and inspection share the same site, so a drawing that arrives on Monday can be trialled, measured and adjusted without leaving the building. The manufacturing capability page carries the numbers: profile weight from 10 g/m to 2,000 g/m, light transmission from 0% to 97%, custom colours to RAL or Pantone references.
The product range grew out of the lighting market rather than into it. Linear covers, prismatic and embossed covers, lenses, tubes, troffer housings, small covers and IP65 rated three-proof kits are extruded in polycarbonate and PMMA, in clear, opal, frosted and custom finishes. The LED light covers and prismatic diffuser pages show the sections that get asked for most, and the linear LED lenses cover the optic side of the catalogue.
Quality management is certified to ISO 9001:2015 under CQC certificate 00124Q34175R1S/3300, and the certifications page lists the material documents that sit behind it. The quality control page describes how a batch is held, sampled and released before it ships.
The show calendar, read as a timeline
The trade show calendar maps the company’s own growth better than any brochure. April 2018 took the team to the Brazil International Lighting Expo in São Paulo, followed two months later by GILE in Guangzhou. Then came the busiest stretch on the road: Mumbai in May 2019, GILE again that June, the Hong Kong International Lighting Expo at the harbour-front convention centre in October, and Delhi in November for a third consecutive year of showing in India.
After the pandemic pause, the calendar picked up where it left off. GILE 2023 brought the troffer housings and the high-transmission linear covers to booth 1.1C59. June 2024 went to Korea, where the embossed prismatic linear cover was shown for the first time in that market, and 2025 closed the loop at the 30th GILE. Two of those trips have their own write-ups: what Korean buyers asked about prismatic linear covers, and notes from GILE 2025.
An autumn worth marking
This autumn the whole team gathered in Deqing to mark the company’s anniversary, with employees of five and ten years’ service recognised on stage in front of the colleagues they have worked beside. The evening was deliberately unglamorous: a dinner, a few speeches, group photos outside the plant, and a thank-you to the customers and partners whose drawings turned into production runs.
What has not changed
The company still sells profiles to lighting manufacturers rather than finished lamps. The customer is still a luminaire maker, an OEM or ODM programme, or a project contractor who needs a section that behaves the same way in every batch. Enquiries still start with a drawing, a sketch or an existing sample rather than a catalogue number, and the quotation comes back with material, tooling and lead-time options attached. If you have a section in mind, send the drawing and the team will take it from there.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the factory?
Xin’an Town, Deqing County, Huzhou, Zhejiang province. The address on the contact page is the one that appears on every quotation and shipping document.
Can we visit?
Yes, visits are welcome and usually start with the extrusion hall and the tooling centre. The factory visit guide covers what to look at while you are there.
Which shows do you attend?
GILE in Guangzhou most years, with regional shows in between. Korea in 2024 and GILE 2025 are the most recent trips.
